Barnardo’s works hard to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people. This year marks 150 years since Thomas Barnardo founded the charity. Since then we have helped hundreds of thousands of children to grow up happy and healthy.

We believe in children and young people and their right to thrive. Our vision is to realise Thomas Barnardo’s dream of a world where no child is turned away from the help that they need. Last year we helped more than 248,000 children, young people and parents through our 996 services.

But we cannot do that without the help of social workers, who work side by side with our staff and volunteers supporting children and young people in need every day. Our work includes helping children to find a loving foster home or adoptive parent; supporting them after abuse or sexual exploitation; supporting a disabled child and their family, offering respite and encouragement to young carers; mentoring young people leaving local authority care or showing new parents five ways to help their child flourish.

There are millions of children, young people and families across the UK who have a lot to thank a social worker for and this is why we are very proud to be the sponsor of this award.
