Devon County Council is exceptionally proud to support the Principal Social Worker of the Year award – recognising outstanding social work and celebrating positive change in social care.
We support a growing number of adults and children to stay safe, remain healthy, independent, and to achieve the outcomes that are important to them.
The role of the Principal Social Worker is key in ensuring that social workers – and all social care staff – work to excellent standards in safeguarding and promote the welfare of children and adults.
The Principal Social Worker role has enabled social workers to have their voices heard at the highest levels of management, and to develop a learning organisation which supports good, evidence based practice.
Principal Social Workers have been instrumental in building strong partnerships with the NHS and other organisations. In Devon, the Principal Social Worker role has supported opportunities for social workers to develop professionally and deliver the best outcomes for people across the county.
The Principal Social Worker role also supports social workers and managers to deliver new ways of working. In Devon, our social care professionals aren’t afraid to try new things or do things differently. We provide the resources, budget control, learning and development opportunities and support they need to improve the lives of adults, children and families across the county.
Principal Social Workers everywhere support the development of good practice in the social work profession, ensure the voices of social workers are heard at all levels of management, provide leadership, and help promote joined up services. Therefore, we are proud to support this award.
