Category Supporter: Outstanding Contribution to Social Work
The Local Government Association is the national voice of local government. We work with councils to support, promote and improve local government. We are a politically-led, cross party organisation which works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government. We aim to influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils so they are able to deliver local solutions to national problems.
As the organisation which represents the largest group of social work employers, we want to raise awareness of the great job that social workers do and the huge contribution they make to improving people's lives. We want to encourage people to see social work as a ‘career of choice’. That is why we are delighted to support these awards which highlight inspirational stories and demonstrate why people who really want to make a difference should choose social work.
The LGA is committed to promoting and protecting social care and to supporting the workforce. We provide a number of good practice resources for councils. The Employer Standards can help drive recruitment and retention, whilst our case studies show how employers and social work professionals can work together in new and innovative ways.
